We work closely with several rescues here in the Sacramento area. Many times they are willing to rescue one of the animals on our website but they dont have an available foster home. If you have ever considered helping to save an animal from a shelter, fostering is a good place to start and this is the perfect place to look. In most cases, the rescue will pay for any vet bills and food if needed. These dogs just need a safe place to live until they are adopted.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FOSTERING EITHER OF THESE DOGS, PLEASE CONTACT Dina Robinson owner of SAFE rescue: 530-647-6880, Carol Nessim volunteer: [email protected], Kim Lusby manager : [email protected] or 530-622--8295

FOSTERS GENERALLY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR FOOD OR VETTING. THESE THINGS ARE PROVIDED BY THE RESCUE ORGANIZATION. YOU WILL HAVE TO PROVIDE A LOVING HOME AND POSSIBLY TRANSPORT TO ADOPTION EVENTS BUT IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO TRANSPORT, THIS CAN BE ARRANGED AS WELL. DO YOU HAVE A SAFE, LOVING HOME FOR THESE DOGS??

Temporary foster home needed for this old man: A601720 UNALTERED MALE, BLACK LABRADOR RETR Aged:
10 YEARS This sweet old man is up for rescue due to age related health issues. He is a is a bit too heavy for his age and it appears to have put some strain on his hips. He was pretty nervous during his exam, so our vet was unable to find anything significant. He appears to be potty trained, could care less about other animals and is very mellow. Due to lack of shelter space, we are only able to hold him for rescue through 9/10 -Arellanes |
Nala needs a foster home
Nala was rescued by Scooters Pals, but needs to go into boarding until a foster home is found, could you foster this sweet girl?
Nala's video: http://youtu.be/Sf6BDp_duYc
Nala's video with volunteer Joe Paulo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOHNWaCQrrw
Volunteer Notes: Nala arrived at the shelter back in 2011 and was known as "Veronica." Veronica stole the hearts of many volunteers and staff members. Veronica passed her behavior eval and was housed in the habitat rooms where she was socialized daily with other dogs. Since Veronica was a long time resident at the shelter, volunteers and staff took extra special care of her by allowing her to sit up in front of the shelter, and giving her extra walks. It was a happy moment when all of the volunteers who spent time with Veronica learned she was adopted and found her forever home. Veronica's adopter even updated the shelter from time to time on how well she was doing. Sadly two years later Veronica was returned to the shelter by her adopter because she purportedly did not get along with another dog in the household (Note: there is no documentation on the surrender paperwork indicating another dog lived in the house). The surrender paperwork is a little confusing because the adopter said some of Veronica's favorite things to do were "playing w/doggy sisters," and was "always w/other dogs." Under the dogs favorite activities the adopter wrote Veronica liked "wrestling with other dogs." The adopter said Veronica is friendly to people and strangers, well-behaved, affectionate/attentive and playful. The adopter also wrote that in July 2013, Veronica received 1.5 weeks of training from the Folsom Dog Resort, specifically on-leash and off-leash training. The adopter wrote that Veronica enjoyed daily walks, was housebroken, crate trained and lived with a 3 year old child, cats and birds. Now that Veronica is back in the shelter, many volunteers have taken extra time to give her lots of attention. Volunteer Joe Paulo has made an extra effort to visit with her 3x a day to let her out for a potty break because she is showing strong signs of being house-trained. When we took her out of her kennel she was easy to put a leash on and take outside, and she walks well on leash. She did not have any reaction to the barking dogs we passed. Veronica was very loving and sweet, and gave us kisses on the cheek. Veronica knows how to come, sit and lay down for treats, and will be easy to train for more obedience. Veronica also loves to be petted and will happily roll over for belly rubs. Veronica is a great girl who deserves a loving home, and she will make an awesome companion for one lucky person or family.
Shelter Notes:
Veronica can be possessive of her toys and food around other dogs, but not people, and we think she will do well as the only dog in the home. She was surrendered because her food aggression was causing problems in the owners home with a second dog present. Veronica will need a home with a patient owner. Will hold for rescue until 8/31/13.
